- 100% Organic Cotton or Recycled
NAC gear makes use of both Organic Cotton and Recycled fibers.
Our Organic Cotton products are certified by the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) the Control Union and The Soil Association.
The certification encompasses the farming, production and distribution processes and helps us ensure full traceability of every product.
We also love that our gear is free from genetically modified organisms and is safe for not only you, but the planet!
- Low Impact Farming
The organic cotton in NAC gear is sourced from regions where organic cotton is planted and harvested by hand, without mechanization! The farming process also does not use petroleum based chemical fertilizer, pesticide or herbicide, and is less reliant on fossil fuels then standard cotton farming.
- Carbon Neutral
NAC Gear is made using carbon neutral manufacturing facilities in India, making use of ‘low impact’ organic cotton. Our gear is then distributed through carbon neutral warehouses and offices that use renewable green electricity, before it lands to us in OZ.
NAC products 90% reduction in normal clothing manufacturing Carbon Footprint is a a result of using renewable energy and low impact farming techniques.
- Environmentally Friendly
NAC Gear apparel is certified by worldwide textile standards (The Oeko-Tex 100 Standard)
This standard is a guarantee of the safety of textiles and dyestuffs to human health. Not only is NAC gear good for the planet, it is also healthy for your skin and health.
- Ethical Production
At NAC we have strict Fair Trade Practices – We only source our stock from suppliers whom can demonstrate that farmers and agricultural workers in the supply chain are protected by a stringent social criteria, that there is total traceability across the entire supply chain, and finally that the use of poisonous pesticides and defoliants which can severely damage the health of farmers and families are not used.
We seek Justice for Workers – As pressure to quickly produce increasing quantities of cheap textiles continues to lead the clothing industry to allow some of the most unethical trade practices on the planet we demand change! Through supporting an ethical and just supply chain we avoid child labour, excessive working hours and unsafe & unhygienic working conditions for our producers.
Low Water Footprint
It can take more than 20,000 litres of water to produce 1kg of cotton, equivalent to a single T-shirt and pair of jeans. That’s why the inputs of NAC apparel is sourced from regions that receives up to 95% of its water from the monsoon rain. These rains reduce the need for large-scale irrigation projects normally associated with conventional cotton farming, which often deprive local villages of scarce water resources by draining lakes and rivers.
We Look After Water
The processing of the dye effluent takes place in a controlled closed- loop purification system that uses treatment ponds, sand filtration and reverse osmosis to convert the wastewater into clean water.
NAC gear is sourced using a ‘No Airfreight’ policy. We make use containerised ocean shipping, to ensure our goods have the least amount of impact on our planet. We hope to in the future offset all our shipping, and cannot wait for more options that solve the world’s transportation and energy security issues that can help us have a completely green product and business!
- Renewable Energy
By making use of wind turbines and solar, NAC gear is made with the planet in mind. The renewable energy used to create NAC gear generate a continuous source of electricity across the product creation process.
What is Climate Neutral?
Climate Neutral means our industrial greenhouse gas emissions have been reduced to pre-industrial levels through low-impact (low emission) organic agriculture and carbon neutral industrial manufacturing, achieved through substituting energy use from fossil fuel powered power stations with clean renewable energy from wind turbines and solar power!
At NAC we love to travel and explore, but we know our love of exploring new frontiers until now had a negative effect on the natural world around us. So NAC was born. Travel and adventure gear that is sustainably made, good for you and sees all the profits donated back to development projects aborad.
Through our gear we strive to provide products that do not have a detrimental effects to the Earth’s soil, water, its inhabitants (people and animals) and our climate.
